This constructive feedback will be incorporated into a joint Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC)/American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) update of the ASCO Telehealth in Oncology Standards, which will include considerations for resource-constrained settings [7].

Equity-Centered Optimization of Virtual Cancer Survivorship Care

Equity-Centered Optimization of Virtual Cancer Survivorship Care

We commend Scruton et al [1] for their realist evaluation of virtual follow-up (VFU) care experiences among breast and prostate cancer survivors. The study advances our understanding of contextual factors that influence VFU effectiveness and patient satisfaction. However, we offer critical reflections to strengthen equity-centered implementation of telehealth in survivorship care.

The Effectiveness and Feasibility of Conversational Agents in Supporting Care for Patients With Cancer: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

The Effectiveness and Feasibility of Conversational Agents in Supporting Care for Patients With Cancer: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Cancer remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, placing a substantial burden on health care systems. In 2022, an estimated 20 million new cancer cases and 9.7 million cancer-related deaths occurred worldwide, with approximately 53.5 million individuals living with cancer [1]. A cancer diagnosis not only presents significant challenges to health care systems but also profoundly affects patients’ daily lives.

Companionship and Sharing Create Social Connections of an Online Community-Based Intervention for Patients with Cancer Receiving Outpatient Care: Pilot Study

Companionship and Sharing Create Social Connections of an Online Community-Based Intervention for Patients with Cancer Receiving Outpatient Care: Pilot Study

Cancer and its treatments cause not only physical pain but also psychological, social, and spiritual suffering to patients. However, the lack of accessible psychosocial support resources, compounded by their uneven distribution, results in many patients with cancer being unable to receive the necessary rehabilitation guidance and psychological care [1,2].

Identifying Adaptations to an mHealth Alcohol Reduction Intervention for Reducing Alcohol Use in Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Survivors: Qualitative Study

Identifying Adaptations to an mHealth Alcohol Reduction Intervention for Reducing Alcohol Use in Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Survivors: Qualitative Study

Given known health risks of hazardous alcohol use in the general population (eg, increased risk of heart and liver disease, stroke, depression and anxiety, and reduced fertility), as well as in cancer survivors specifically (eg, increased risk of certain cancer incidence, recurrence, and even premature mortality) [2-5], helping adolescent and young adult cancer survivors reduce hazardous drinking should be a key component of survivorship care.

Capturing Community Perspectives in a Statewide Cancer Needs Assessment: Online Focus Group Study

Capturing Community Perspectives in a Statewide Cancer Needs Assessment: Online Focus Group Study

The Commonwealth of Kentucky has the highest all-site cancer incidence and mortality rates in the United States [1]. In 2021, a group of academic and community partners collaborated on a comprehensive, statewide cancer needs assessment (CNA) to address the state’s extensive cancer burden.

Federated Analysis With Differential Privacy in Oncology Research: Longitudinal Observational Study Across Hospital Data Warehouses

Federated Analysis With Differential Privacy in Oncology Research: Longitudinal Observational Study Across Hospital Data Warehouses

In order to test the implementation of a federated platform with DP, a study was conducted using real-world oncology data, with the aim of analyzing the differences in the patient drug exposure of patients with non–small cell lung cancer before and after the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, the analyses were based on the first line of treatment, including its duration and disease progression at 24 months.

Automating Colon Polyp Classification in Digital Pathology by Evaluation of a “Machine Learning as a Service” AI Model: Algorithm Development and Validation Study

Automating Colon Polyp Classification in Digital Pathology by Evaluation of a “Machine Learning as a Service” AI Model: Algorithm Development and Validation Study

As many jurisdictions use screening programs to detect and remove polyps for cancer surveillance, accurate and efficient pathology diagnosis is a key part of colon cancer screening programs [23,24]. As there are relatively few diagnostic entities for colon polyps, this area is well-suited to AI screening algorithms to assist pathologists in making a rapid diagnosis.

Feasibility and Acceptability of a Psychological Intervention for Internalized Health-Related Stigma Among Adults With Chronic Health Conditions: Preliminary Investigation

Feasibility and Acceptability of a Psychological Intervention for Internalized Health-Related Stigma Among Adults With Chronic Health Conditions: Preliminary Investigation

Participants were eligible if they had one or more of the following health conditions: obesity; type 1 or type 2 diabetes; skin disease (eg, psoriasis, eczema, or vitiligo); HIV; chronic pain; or cancer (including in remission). These conditions represent a range of dimensions important to stigma (eg, perceived controllability, contagion, and concealability). Inclusion criteria also included self-reported perceptions and internalization of health-related stigma.

Evaluating the Feasibility of Web-Monitoring Methodology for Measuring Exposure to Online Cancer Misinformation

Evaluating the Feasibility of Web-Monitoring Methodology for Measuring Exposure to Online Cancer Misinformation

Cancer misinformation can negatively impact health outcomes and increase mortality risk if patients forgo conventional cancer treatment for unproven alternatives [7,8]. These risks demonstrate an urgency to strengthen the growing field of online cancer misinformation scholarship.
