Digital Smoking Cessation Intervention for Cancer Survivors: Analysis of Predictors and Moderators of Engagement and Outcome Alongside a Randomized Controlled Trial

Digital Smoking Cessation Intervention for Cancer Survivors: Analysis of Predictors and Moderators of Engagement and Outcome Alongside a Randomized Controlled Trial

For example, a meta-analytic study by Mujcic et al [3] showed that digital and nondigital distance-based SC interventions for cancer survivors led to significantly reduced smoking rates compared to baseline (risk difference=0.29). However, research on the predictors and moderators of engagement and outcome of digital SC studies for cancer survivors is limited, while cancer survivors are a growing and diverse population [18].

Effectiveness, Cost-effectiveness, and Cost-Utility of a Digital Smoking Cessation Intervention for Cancer Survivors: Health Economic Evaluation and Outcomes of a Pragmatic Randomized Controlled Trial

Effectiveness, Cost-effectiveness, and Cost-Utility of a Digital Smoking Cessation Intervention for Cancer Survivors: Health Economic Evaluation and Outcomes of a Pragmatic Randomized Controlled Trial

Intervention flowchart (adapted from Mujcic et al [21]). The effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and cost-utility of a digital SC intervention for cancer survivors was evaluated in an individual RCT with 2 parallel arms. The trial was conducted in the Netherlands between 2016 and 2019. The first inclusion was on November 4, 2016, and the last inclusion was on September 15, 2018. The last follow-up data were collected on September 24, 2019.

Effectiveness, Cost-effectiveness, and Cost-Utility of a Digital Alcohol Moderation Intervention for Cancer Survivors: Health Economic Evaluation and Outcomes of a Pragmatic Randomized Controlled Trial

Effectiveness, Cost-effectiveness, and Cost-Utility of a Digital Alcohol Moderation Intervention for Cancer Survivors: Health Economic Evaluation and Outcomes of a Pragmatic Randomized Controlled Trial

An extensive description of the study protocol has been provided in the study by Mujcic et al [20]. This study was part of a set of 2 separate RCTs on digital interventions for AM and smoking cessation in cancer survivors. The results of the RCT on the smoking cessation intervention (My Course–Quit Smoking) will be published separately.
