To compare if the proportion of asynchronous ATT systematically changed for all patients across the program duration, we used a 2-sided t test to compare the beta coefficients to 0 (see section “Assessing Training Consistency” in the Methods).

Readability scores were then statistically analyzed using a paired t test to compare readability scores between the original MRI reports written by the radiologist and GPT-4o–generated layman explanations in order to assess whether there was a significant difference in FRES and FKGL scores. Paired t tests were performed on the exact FKGL and FKRE values (not ranges) to assess statistical significance.

Changes in mean glucose at month 3 relative to the month before app use were analyzed using a paired, 2-sided t test to assess whether the change differed significantly from 0. Additionally, a 1-sample Wilcoxon signed rank test was conducted to confirm that the rejection of the null hypothesis was not driven by violations of the t test assumptions. All P values were adjusted using the Bonferroni correction to account for multiple testing.
