Students used stickers to indicate their responses on a large poster displaying the questions and website analytical data including unique page visits. Formative Evaluation of Suicide Prevention Websites for Men: Qualitative Study with Men at Risk of Suicide and with Potential Gatekeepers

The website for men with an increased risk of suicide entitled “Männer-stärken” (empowering or strengthening men) offers information on suicide prevention. The website contains videos, information summaries, and lists of helpful recommendations. Complex content is conveyed in simple language and with the help of visual illustrations. Long text sections are avoided in favor of concise information summaries and lists. Graphic illustrations feature a line art and watercolor design.

Development and Usability of an Advance Care Planning Website (My Voice) to Empower Patients With Heart Failure and Their Caregivers: Mixed Methods Study

Patients can view and edit the document before it is saved on the website. The website then triggers automated emails and phone text messages containing the document to both patients and their designated surrogate decision makers. Patients and their designated surrogate decision makers can also view and print the document anytime through the website. The website also sends phone reminders to patients to revisit “My Voice.” Multimedia Appendix 1 highlights select pages from the “My Voice” website.

Each month, around 3800 people complete an anonymous self-test for suicidal thoughts on the website of the national suicide prevention helpline in the Netherlands—113 Suicide Prevention [3]. The organization offers 24/7 anonymous phone and chat support, a web-based self-help course, self-assessment tests, as well as brief web-based counseling and therapy.

Participant interview responses were categorized into specific website components and included the following: landing/home page, video, current progress and badges, play cards, and overall experience with the website. Responses were further categorized into “likes,” “dislikes/struggled with,” and “wants” as they related to each component. The following themes emerged from the interview responses. The first theme related to “website likes” included the website design.
