Such a nutritional surveillance system needs to collect data on nutrition risk factors in a regular and timely manner from various sources, such as growth monitoring in health facilities, nutrition surveys for the population, as well as community-based sentinel monitoring [8-10].

From these responses, subjects were assigned to one of three challenges, that are (1) nutrition, (2) movement, (3) sleep based on set criteria (eg, those reporting poor sleep quality were placed in sleep challenge). Those who skipped these questions were prompted to complete them later, with the default challenge assigned as nutrition. Each participant set 28-day goals to guide their progress.

Multihealth Promotion Programs on Physical Health and Quality of Life in Older Adults: Quasi-Experimental Study

However, their findings also highlighted the lack of comprehensive evaluations of multicomponent interventions (eg, combining exercise and nutrition). Frost et al [7] reported that only one of 7 RCTs included combined exercise and nutritional interventions, showing that strength training with protein supplementation significantly increased muscle mass. Nevertheless, the effects of this combined intervention on mental and psychological health were not thoroughly explored.

Improving Diet Quality of People Living With Obesity by Building Effective Dietetic Service Delivery Using Technology in a Primary Health Care Setting: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

Improving Diet Quality of People Living With Obesity by Building Effective Dietetic Service Delivery Using Technology in a Primary Health Care Setting: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

To date, few studies have examined the combined effectiveness of behavior change techniques with new cutting-edge digital technologies and medical nutrition therapy. Digital technologies are effective in supporting weight loss, particularly when combined with personalized feedback [13]. One of the challenges for dietitians in working with individuals living with obesity is the ability to easily and accurately assess diet and dietary behaviors—an important component of personalized advice.

Digital Health Intervention to Reduce Malnutrition Among Individuals With Gastrointestinal Cancer Receiving Cytoreductive Surgery Combined With Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy: Feasibility, Acceptability, and Usability Trial

Medical nutrition therapy (MNT), which includes dietitian-led nutritional counseling and additional dietary interventions, has been shown to improve nutritional outcomes for individuals with GI cancer [12,13]. However, multilevel barriers hinder access to MNT and its effectiveness. At the system level, there may be limited outpatient services for nutritional counseling, fragmented oncology and nutritional care, and inconsistent nutrition-screening procedures across clinics [14,15].

Yet, it has been hypothesized that among households that receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, FI is not stable but cycles over the course of the month [14]. SNAP benefits are distributed in the beginning of the month and may not be sufficient to attenuate or prevent FI by the end of the month [15].
