Colorectal cancer (CRC) is estimated to be the fourth most common cancer diagnosis in Canada (except for nonmelanoma skin cancers) and the second and third leading cause of cancer-related death in male and female individuals, respectively [1]. Given the marked onset of CRC among individuals aged 50 years, it was historically considered a disease for older adults.

In this review, we systematically synthesized published online evidence on the global prevalence of NAFLD and quantified the magnitude of the association between NAFLD and the risk of extrahepatic cancers.
