Health-Related Quality of Life of Lebanese Women With Breast Cancer: Protocol for a Prospective Cohort Study

According to El Saghir et al [4], BCS in Lebanon increased from 48% between 1997 and 2002 to 64% between 2002 and 2010, with a corresponding decrease in the total mastectomy rate from 51% to 36%. Despite the increase in BCS, this treatment carries an array of side effects and uncomfortable physical symptoms as well as psychological disturbances, such as fear of recurrence, feelings of decreased femininity and attractiveness, and depression.
