Xu et al [17] developed a bidirectional long short-term memory and conditional random field (Bi-LSTM-CRF) model to recognize phenotype concepts in EHRs, together with a machine learning method to predict attribute values, and finally represented the phenotype information in English EHRs with the clinical element model (CEM) [18]. Compared to the progress of deep-phenotyping English EHRs, the method for deep-phenotyping Chinese EHRs is still in its infancy.
