Evaluating a Large Language Model’s Ability to Synthesize a Health Science Master’s Thesis: Case Study

Evaluating a Large Language Model’s Ability to Synthesize a Health Science Master’s Thesis: Case Study

In an exploratory case study, we asked Chat GPT (Chat GPT-4o and Chat GPT-o1) to synthesize two datasets: one qualitative and one quantitative, inspired by existing real-world datasets the authors had previously analyzed. The generation of synthetic datasets and subsequent data analysis took place in October and November of 2024.

Young Adults With Type 1 Diabetes and Their Perspectives on Diabetes-Related Social Media: Qualitative Study

Young Adults With Type 1 Diabetes and Their Perspectives on Diabetes-Related Social Media: Qualitative Study

For example, Tenderich et al [16] used qualitative methods to describe T1 D-related content on various SM platforms, having 6 main themes: humor, diabetic pride, getting personal with diabetes tech, tips and tricks, building community, and venting . Holtz and Kanthawala also qualitatively reviewed SM posts, focusing on Instagram (Meta) posts about T1 D, finding more positive than negative sentiment in posts, and that self-disclosure of diabetes was associated with increased post engagement [17].

Exploring Conceptualizations of COVID-19 Risk in Ideologically Distinct Online Communities: A Computational Grounded Theory Analysis

Exploring Conceptualizations of COVID-19 Risk in Ideologically Distinct Online Communities: A Computational Grounded Theory Analysis

Next, we conducted a qualitative thematic analysis of the comments under each topic for each subreddit. We did a deep reading of the comments, paying special attention to whether or how these comments translate into statements of position and identity for each subreddit. During this step, we also critically assessed the validity of computational output, based on the patterns identified from our qualitative analysis [19]. We followed Braun and Clarke’s [29,30] method for thematic analysis.

The Lived Experiences of Racial and Ethnic Minority Nurses Exposed to Racial Microaggressions in the Hospital Setting: Qualitative Study

The Lived Experiences of Racial and Ethnic Minority Nurses Exposed to Racial Microaggressions in the Hospital Setting: Qualitative Study

We were strictly interested in qualitative studies that explored experiences with WPV among bedside registered nurses from racial and ethnic minority groups. The initial search included the terms “nurses,” “violence,” “harassment,” “hospitals,” and “qualitative.” From here, we identified potentially relevant articles based on title and abstract screening and eliminated articles that were duplicates or not relevant based on full-text review.

Use of Online Tools for Mental Health Among Racially and Ethnically Diverse College Students: Mixed Methods Study

Use of Online Tools for Mental Health Among Racially and Ethnically Diverse College Students: Mixed Methods Study

This design incorporated simultaneous collection and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data for confirmation and hypothesis testing. Quantitative data analysis was the primary method, examining a priori constructs that could impact online tool use. The qualitative data expanded upon the quantitative findings, such that it provided a deeper understanding of the relationship between a priori constructs and online tool use.

Implementation and Evaluation of a Therapeutic Communication Educational Program for Nurses: Protocol for a Mixed Methods Study

Implementation and Evaluation of a Therapeutic Communication Educational Program for Nurses: Protocol for a Mixed Methods Study

A convergent unblinded mixed method study design in which qualitative and quantitative data are used in multiple phases and merged and analyzed equally for an interactive approach [27]. Qualitative and quantitative investigations will take place before and after the implementation of the therapeutic communication training at the acute admission ward. Additional quantitative data is retrieved at a general ward.

Hybrid Hospital-at-Home Program in Singapore: Ethnographic Study

Hybrid Hospital-at-Home Program in Singapore: Ethnographic Study

An ethnographic qualitative research design was used to explore experiences encountered by patients and caregivers in a Ha H program. Different sources (ie, observations, field notes, and interviews with patients and caregivers) were used to triangulate data and provide a corroborated understanding of the experience of Ha H within the Singapore context, enhancing the dependability of this study’s findings [28].

A Self-Harm Awareness Training Module for School Staff: Co-Design and User Testing Study

A Self-Harm Awareness Training Module for School Staff: Co-Design and User Testing Study

Qualitative co-design workshops were conducted with school staff to refine and finalize the training scenarios, gather feedback on the user interface design, and capture potential users’ views on prospective acceptability and feasibility [31]. Findings from the co-design workshops informed the design and development of the prototype e-learning module.
