Of the total INPC-derived cohort, 210,764 (38.4%) patients were identified as hypertensive by phenotype P6, which is the broadest—and most sensitive—definition of hypertension according to Valvi et al [21]. The INPC-derived hypertension cohort was 57.6% (121,307/210,764) women and 33.2% (70,060/210,764) Black or African American. The BRFSS-derived hypertensive cohort was 55.2% (197/357) women and 17.6% (63/357) Black or African American.
