Several risk factors for the development of ILD in patients with RA have been identified, including older age, male sex, cigarette smoking, and the presence of positive anticyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies or immunoglobulin M rheumatoid factor [6-9].
RA-ILD can be classified into acute, subacute, and chronic forms based on the clinical presentation. In patients with acute RA-ILD, characterized by diffuse alveolar damage, high-dose corticosteroids are typically the first-line treatment.
