Developing Infrastructure to Realize the Value of Patient-Generated Health Data in a Large Integrated Health Care System: The Veterans Health Administration Experience

Developing Infrastructure to Realize the Value of Patient-Generated Health Data in a Large Integrated Health Care System: The Veterans Health Administration Experience

As the PGHD database evolves and lessons are learned from researchers, field testers, and pilot projects, the goal will be to integrate PGHD into fundamental clinical workflows and build a knowledge base for where integration provides the greatest value. Data collected in the PGHD database are guided by a series of VHA policy and strategy documents, the development of which was overseen by the Office of Connected Care [9].

Experiences of Using a Digital Text Messaging Intervention to Support Oral Medication Adherence for People Living With Type 2 Diabetes: Qualitative Process Evaluation

Experiences of Using a Digital Text Messaging Intervention to Support Oral Medication Adherence for People Living With Type 2 Diabetes: Qualitative Process Evaluation

The frequency of messages that used a particular group of BCTs could be modified based on a participant’s response to individual messages requesting more or less of that type of message. Messages also encouraged participants to seek further information and included links to external websites such as Diabetes UK where possible. Potential participants were identified by general practices in England and were provided with a short information leaflet using a variety of methods.

Usage of a Multipurpose mHealth App Among Adults With Sickle Cell Disease: Randomized Controlled Trial

Usage of a Multipurpose mHealth App Among Adults With Sickle Cell Disease: Randomized Controlled Trial

We conducted a feasibility randomized controlled trial to determine the acceptability of our m Health app [14]. A multipurpose m Health app can allow patients to monitor and track their pain, but additional features can increase app usage and engagement in their disease.

Screening and Risk Analysis of Atrial Fibrillation After Radiotherapy for Breast Cancer: Protocol for the Cross-Sectional Cohort Study “Watch Your Heart (WATCH)”

Screening and Risk Analysis of Atrial Fibrillation After Radiotherapy for Breast Cancer: Protocol for the Cross-Sectional Cohort Study “Watch Your Heart (WATCH)”

A recent study based on the Medicare database showed that the incidence of AF is significantly higher in patients following the year of the diagnosis of BC compared to a control population without cancer (3.3% vs 1.6%, P80 years had an increased risk of AF [24]. Similar results were observed in a systematic review and meta-analysis that found that older patients (age ≥65 years) with BC have a 4.5 times’ higher incidence of AF than younger patients with BC (8.6% vs 1.9%) [18].

Scaling a Brief Digital Well-Being Intervention (the Big Joy Project) and Sociodemographic Moderators: Single-Group Pre-Post Study

Scaling a Brief Digital Well-Being Intervention (the Big Joy Project) and Sociodemographic Moderators: Single-Group Pre-Post Study

In this paper, we test a brief, web-based well-being intervention, the Big Joy Project, on a large global sample to examine the impact of sociodemographic factors. Emotional well-being is a multidimensional composite that includes both the quality of momentary experiences and broader life judgments [7]. Emotional well-being is intimately associated with mental and physical health [4,5,11,12].

Personal Health Record Software for Neuroendocrine Tumors: Patient-Centered Design Approach

Personal Health Record Software for Neuroendocrine Tumors: Patient-Centered Design Approach

In order for PHR software to successfully play a data gathering role for research studies it needs to provide a valuable service to patients, otherwise patients are less likely to use it [9,13]. Ideally, PHR software used for research studies would follow a model similar to that followed by free online services: users get a valuable service in exchange for their personal data.

A Novel Framework to Assess Clinical Information in Digital Health Technologies: Cross-Sectional Survey Study

A Novel Framework to Assess Clinical Information in Digital Health Technologies: Cross-Sectional Survey Study

An initial CLIQ framework was developed through a systematic review and qualitative synthesis of existing information quality frameworks for DHTs [11]. A CLIQ assessment questionnaire was then developed based on the CLIQ framework and further evidence from literature [21]. The questionnaire offers a pragmatic approach to assessing clinical information in DHTs based on relatable clinical scenarios.

Impact of Digital Health on Patient-Provider Relationships in Respiratory Secondary Care Based on Qualitative and Quantitative Evidence: Systematic Review

Impact of Digital Health on Patient-Provider Relationships in Respiratory Secondary Care Based on Qualitative and Quantitative Evidence: Systematic Review

I think it is probably best if [telemonitoring is done by] people that are dealing with the patients every single day and have that bit of a relationship with them ... people are more trusting, and it is something more personable for the patient [27]. Technology can reassure patients that someone is “watching over them” and create a feeling of a “caring presence” compensating for depersonalization due to a lack of physical presence [71].
